Tell MN Senators to Restore Transit Funding and Defend Climate Progress!
Thanks to advocates like you speaking up, 49 state representatives recently voted against the bad transportation bill in the House! Now, we need your voice to make a difference in the Senate, too. Take action below!
From protecting our livelihoods to improving our quality of life, curbing climate pollution from transportation benefits everyone statewide. When we invest in public transit and pass policies to build more connected communities, we can protect the people and places we love—and set a hopeful standard for the rest of the nation.
Our state senators will vote this week on a transportation bill that sets back our hard-won wins in Minnesota by cutting resources for public transit. Some legislators want to do more to reverse our progress by also undermining the impact of our groundbreaking Driving Down Emissions law so unfettered spending on highway expansion can continue.
Tell your State Senator to restore transit funding in the Senate transportation bill!
In our cities, suburbs, and Greater Minnesota communities, Minnesotans have waited far too long for high-quality public transit. Families and workers are depending on recent public transit investments to make buses and trains faster, more frequent, and more accessible to get to the places they need to go everyday. With so many households facing tight budgets, we can’t roll back or redirect funding for public transit in the Twin Cities or Greater Minnesota.
To make up for decades of underinvestment, we need lawmakers to update the rigid, outdated definition of “highway purposes” to make it possible to flex state dollars to invest in the healthy, sustainable transportation options that strengthen our communities and reduce pollution.
Take action today to tell your State Senator to restore funding for public transit, defend our climate protection law, and unrestrict the resources we need to expand healthy and sustainable transportation!
Most Minnesotans know we need to act now to protect the people and places we love from the most severe impacts of climate change. Our Driving Down Emissions law takes essential steps to do exactly that: requiring the Minnesota Department of Transportation to assess the climate impacts of any highway project and then ensure that project aligns with our state’s goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and vehicle miles traveled.
But some lawmakers want to delay implementation of this urgently needed policy for years—risking the climate resilient futures that generations of Minnesotans are counting on and rolling back our state’s reputation as a climate leader.
Tell your State Senator to safeguard our climate future and stand firm on the implementation of the Driving Down Emissions law!
This spring, we can’t let a bad transportation bill or any other state and federal attacks on public transit or climate action take us backward. Together, we can make sure our state leaders know we’re counting on them to stay the course we’ve fought so hard to win—and build a better future for our families and communities in Minnesota.
