Take Action: Tell MN Leadership to Defend Transit and Climate Progress Now

Thanks to advocates like you, we’ve already made tangible headway this year in the fight for a transportation system that works for everyone. But big transit and climate decisions are still on the line in the lead-up to a likely special session. Our state leaders are continuing critical transportation bill negotiations at the State Capitol right now. We need your help today to remind decision-makers that our health, our environment, our communities, and our futures are at stake. Send this new message to state leaders before they make a deal.

Thanks to the historic investments in transit and climate solutions we secured with your support two years ago, Minnesotans have already started to see the transformative role transit can play in improving people’s lives when it receives the investment it deserves. But we’ve also seen months of ongoing attempts to cut public transit funding, block transit projects, and chip away at our nation-leading climate policy to reduce transportation pollution. And the recent victory lap from some state lawmakers at stripping millions from the Northern Lights Express passenger train between the Twin Cities and Duluth shows this fight is far from over. Even our allies are under intense pressure to reach an agreement with $213 million in cuts to transportation funding slated over the next four years. Make sure they hear from you today.

Take action now to send leaders a clear signal that protecting transit investments and climate progress are non-negotiable.

As post-session deal-making continues at the State Capitol today, some lawmakers are still actively seeking harmful cuts to Metro Transit, Metro Mobility, and Greater Minnesota transit service—and pushing to delay the groundbreaking Driving Down Emissions law we passed to expand sustainable transportation choices and reduce highway pollution. Don’t let lawmakers roll back this critical progress with a last-minute deal!

Minnesotans deserve a transportation bill that will help deliver a more just, joyful, and sustainable future for all of us. That means we need our leaders to protect investments in public transit, implement our Driving Down Emissions law on schedule, and remove outdated restrictions so existing state resources can be used to expand the biking, walking, rolling, and public transit options that strengthen our communities, our health, and our climate.

Keep pushing state leaders to reject transit funding cuts and pass a special session bill that will increase walking, rolling, bicycling, and public transit choices in our communities!
