Take Action: Tell Lawmakers to Champion BRT Funding in the Bonding Bill

Across the region, Twin Cities residents are seeing more public transit options that are fast, frequent, and convenient for getting where they need to go. That’s because, after decades of disinvestment at the state level, Metro Transit has been building out a robust network of bus rapid transit (BRT) routes.

With buses that come more frequently, stop less often, and eliminate lines with offboard payment, BRT routes are up to 25% faster than the local buses they replace. Right now, Metro Transit is planning for the METRO H Line—but we need continued investment from state lawmakers to maintain this momentum.

Take action today to urge your state legislators to champion $75 million for bus rapid transit.

While many bills have stalled at the State Capitol this year, a bonding bill is a priority on both sides of the aisle and remains in play in the final weeks of session. Perfect for new infrastructure projects, bonding will give the BRT buildout a much-needed boost, bringing this popular service to more people and helping other regional resources stretch farther for transit operations and maintenance.

As they negotiate the final bonding bill, we need state legislators to provide $75 million in general obligation bonds to develop the METRO H Line, which would connect downtown Minneapolis and the east side of Saint Paul.

As the price of gas and the costs of daily life continue to rise, Minnesotans need more affordable transportation options that get them where they need to go quickly and conveniently. Families, seniors, and workers across the region are counting on legislators to continue to invest in quality public transit projects this session!

Please take action today: Tell lawmakers to invest in fast, frequent transit in the bonding bill!
