Let’s make sure our landmark climate law has the impact we need for our communities!
Thanks to supporters like you taking action, state legislators passed a nation-leading law in 2023 that will curb endless highway expansion by adding climate impacts into the planning equation. Now, our transit champions are working to make sure this law delivers the impact we need for our families and our futures—and a key committee needs to hear our support!
Please join us for a hearing on this critical bill in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Capitol!
For generations, massive highways and car-centric urban planning have fueled the climate crisis while creating deep racial inequities in our communities. Now, Minnesota is setting a different course, seeking to ensure that major road projects move us closer to our climate and vehicle miles traveled reduction goals—or offset their negative impact with projects that give our communities more and better options to bike, walk, roll, and use public transit.
To put this shift into practice, though, we need state lawmakers to pass legislation this session that:
- – Expands the scope of the law so that the state transportation system as a whole can meet Minnesota’s vehicle miles traveled and climate pollution reduction goals and
- – Secures emissions and vehicle miles traveled data from local transportation projects and systems to show where Minnesota needs to make progress to achieve statewide goals.
By making our voices heard, we can play our part in making sure all Minnesotans can live and thrive in healthy, connected communities now and for generations to come!
Please join us to show your support!
